About
About this site and how it is run
Who publishes it
Rating Math is published and maintained by Gazala. Gazala chooses the sources, approves every update and handles corrections. The site does not claim any legal, medical or VA accreditation. It is an information tool, not legal advice, and it is not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Sources
- 38 CFR 4.25, the combined ratings rule and its table.
- 38 CFR 4.26, the bilateral factor.
- The VA's compensation rate tables, currently effective December 1, 2025.
How it is checked
- Automated tests compare the calculator with all 684 cells of the combined ratings table and with the examples printed in the rules.
- The pay tables are read from the VA's published page, and a sample of cells is checked by hand against the live page.
- The calculator is also compared with other published calculators; where a difference appears, the rule's own text decides.
- The date under each calculator, currently 2026-10-15, is set only when every test passes.
When it is updated
The VA changes compensation rates each December. The tables are refreshed from the VA page, the tests are run again, and Gazala approves the change before it goes live. The rules are re-checked if the regulations change.
Corrections
If you think a number is wrong, tell us on the contact page. Include the ratings you entered and what you expected. Confirmed errors are fixed and noted here with the date.
How the site is made
Parts of this site were built with the help of AI tools. The calculations are checked against the VA's published tables by automated tests, and the pages are read by Gazala before they are published.
Advertising
The site may show ads once it is live. Ads never change a result or the order of anything on the page, and nothing here is sponsored by a law firm or a claims service.
