Changelog and known limits
Changelog
- 2026-10-15. First version. Combined rating calculator with the bilateral factor, monthly compensation from the VA rate tables effective 2025-12-01, the full combined ratings table (684 cells), the pay chart, a bilateral factor page and guides. The combined rating arithmetic was compared with every cell of the table in 38 CFR 4.25. The pay amounts were compared with the VA rate page.
When the VA publishes new rates (usually each December), the figures are re-checked against the source, the date above is updated, and a line is added here saying what changed.
Known limits
These are stated here so you do not have to guess.
- Not covered: special monthly compensation, back pay, offsets, and other benefits. The calculator estimates a combined rating and the basic monthly rate for the dependents you enter.
- Only the current rate table. Amounts are for the table effective 2025-12-01. Earlier years are not calculated.
- Where we differ from another calculator. For 60%, 30% and 10% we show 80%, following the table in the rule. One other calculator shows 70% because it keeps decimals. The method page explains the difference.
- Cross-check with other calculators is partial. We compared 12 cases with one outside calculator (11 matched, 1 differs as above). Two other calculators could not be driven in an automated check, so they have not been compared.
- It is an estimate. Only the VA decides a rating or an amount. Your decision letter is the reference.
If you find a figure that does not match the VA's, please tell us. The VA's published table decides, and we will correct the page and note it here.
